Tutto Bene ‘Let’s Make it’ Quinoa Burgers 2017-11-05T22:17:05+00:00

Kids will love our vegetarian Mini Italian Quinoa Burgers, and they can help make them too.

They take just 20 minutes to make from start to finish!

Our mouth-watering, easy-to-make mini burgers use quinoa, one of the ‘ancient grains’. Quinoa is gluten-free and one of the few plant foods that contain all nine essential amino acids, so it is a great vegetarian source of protein. It also contains magnesium, potassium, calcium, phosphorus and B vitamins.

As with all Tutto Bene products these burgers have no added salt so they are a great alternative to other shop bought burgers. Although there is a little prep involved it is just a case of mixing in 120ml cold water and leaving it for 10 minutes before shaping them. And, research shows that cooking with kids can encourage them to try new tastes and be less fussy. Plus cooking with the family is the Italian way.

These delicious burgers are suitable for children aged 3 years and above. Little ones and their parents can enjoy the benefits of our Mini Italian Quinoa Burgers!

Cooking instructions:

  1. Get a large plastic bowl and cut open the packet. Get your little one to empty the contents of the packet into the bowl.
  2. Measure out 120ml cold water (no more) and get your little one to add it to the bowl.
  3. Ask your little one to stir the mixture. Mix it well and wait 10 minutes. (Meanwhile you could set the table with your child or get the accompaniments ready)
  4. Wet your little one’s hands (and yours), and help them shape the mixture into miniburgers/patties with their hands, or use a mould if they are unsure about messy hands. Don’t worry if they are not all exactly the same shape, the main thing is your child gets involved.
  5. Preheat a non-stick frying pan on a (low to medium heat) and put in a few drops of olive oil.
  6. Place the patties in the pan and cook for few minutes each side.
  7. Flip your burgers over when the side that is touching the pan is brown. Approximate cooking time is 6 to 8 minutes.
  8. Serve with a wholemeal bun, in a wrap or with new potatoes, alongside a couple of portions of vegetables. When you eat them, give your child lots of praise about their role in the cooking process.
